EMPLOYEE GARDEN A SUCCESS

-A A +A

This spring and summer, our employees at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds have created and maintained a vegetable garden at the back of our Plymouth office. After receiving a grant from the Mayflower Municipal Health Group, four raised beds were constructed by Mike Wholey of the Plymouth County Maintenance Department.

Throughout summer, our employees, during breaks and after hours, maintained the growing produce. Some of the early harvest has produced great results with more to come. Special thanks to Christine Richards and Janet Gawthrope who organized the effort.

As many people know, our Plymouth office is located on the former site of the former Plymouth County House of Correction opened in 1911. That facility was created as a correctional farm, where the inmates grew the majority of their own food. The House of Correction closed in 1994 when the inmates were moved to the new Plymouth County Correctional Facility. The Registry of Deeds opened on this site in 2005.
